Distribution of Ethnicities in Somalia
Somalia is a multi-ethnic state because it composes of different ethnic groups such as the Somali and Bantu. There are other ethnic groups within Somalia. The country is shaped like a long horn, which is why it is called the "Horn of Africa". It is also an elongated state. A boundary issue that may occur is the loss of influence of the country's capital on the elongated part of the country. Also, another boundary issue could be transportation issues due to the elongation.

In 1954, Somalia's flag was first flown to symbolize the Somalia people (6 years before they declared independence). The song was written in celebration of the independence and the adoption of the flag. In August 1, 2012, the song was declared the new anthem after a long period of government instability.
The Somalian Flag
The white "Star of Unity" symbolizes the Somalia ethnic groups in 5 regions: Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, former Somaliland, and present day Somalia. The flag of the United Nations influenced the blue part of the flag because of the UN's role in Somalia's independence. It also symbolizes the sky and the Indian Ocean, which is east of the country.
